Canon PowerShot G1 X Review

The monster’s image quality is comparable to the best Micro Four Thirds and entry-level DSLRs on the market, therefore the G1 X can’t really be compared to a traditional point-and-shoot. But then again, the camera has a fixed lens and contains beginner level controls. On the other side of the coin, the Canon PowerShot G1 X is also one of the most capable manual machines in the photography world with a versatile f/2.8-f/16 aperture range, 60-second shutter speed and a 12,800 max ISO level. The Canon PowerShot G1 X was one of my favorite camera. Canon PowerShot G1 X
On the rear of the camera is a real-image zoom optical viewfinder with dioptre adjustment, below which is a 3in, 921k-dot LCD screen mounted on a side bracket to provide rotation through any given angle. The screen can also be stowed to face into the camera body for added protection. 14 bit Raw file capture, 1080p HD movie capture and a variety of Scene, Filter and Custom settings also feature alongside Smart Auto mode. The tilt-swivel LCD is great for tripod landscape shooters as well as for people who plan to use it for video. The optical viewfinder, while not super accurate, is nice for people with shaky hands, action photographers who do a lot of panning shots, and again – it’s a useful feature for shooting videos. The G1 X has excellent, well-placed manual exposure controls and all the shooting modes anyone could ask for, including aperture priority, shutter priority, full manual, scene modes and two customizable modes.

Looking at the numbers, the G1 X measures 3.2 by 4.6 by 2.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 19 ounces. The PowerShot G12 is a bit smaller all around, coming in at 3 by 4.4 by 1.9 inches in size and 12.4 ounces in weight.
