Lava International, the leading India-based cell phone manufacturer unveiled Intel's Atom processor based Smartphone named Lava Xolo X900 on Thursday. Capitalizing on Intel's smartphone reference design, the phone is featured with Intel's Atom processor Z2460 with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology as well as a clock speed of 1.6 GHz. It enables these phones to be the world's fastest processor in any mobile device in the world. Besides, these phones are known for their fast browsing, graphics and the user interface has been designed in close partnership with Intel.
Lava Xolo X900 suitably supports HSPA+ and Intel's XMM 6260 Platform. The phone swiftly runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and can also be upgraded to Android Icre Cream Sandwich later on. The latest Lava smartphones sport a LCD display of 4.03-inch and an 8 MP rear camera. There is also a front-facing camera for the purpose of video chatting. Additional features of these phones include HDMI connectivity, Near Field Communication (NFC) and HD video playback. It is worth mentioning that Intel India's engineering team in Bangalore played a crucial role in the designing and development of the Lava Xolo X900. The release of Lava Xolo X900 marks Intel's entry into the smartphone business. Intel has been so far under the domination of less prominent microprocessor makers such as ARM Technologies and Qualcomm as well as other players like Texas Instruments, Nvidia and Broadcom. Lava Xolo X900 price in India is placed at INR 22,000. Xolo X900 phones are also known to be the first-ever smartphone, which is atom processor-based. This gadget has been announced at Mobile World Congress in Spain in the month of February. Intel is also planning for the launch of several other smartphones in collaboration with Motorola, Lenovo and Orange in the later part of this year.
